How I Changed My Health From Good to Great
Friends, I want to share with you a couple of staples that have changed my health from good to great. In this post, I’m going to share with you some name brands that I really enjoy and that have made a difference in my life. As America’s Energy Doctor, it’s important to live by example, and so I want to give you a sneak peek into my life and show you some of the things that I do to stay energized, healthy and cancer-free.
Cancer is something that is pervasive in our society. I think there are a lot of routines that we—for lack of a better term—practice, sometimes habitually, that we don’t realize. Example are eating a lot of sugary foods, overeating, lack of exercise, or eating things without investigating what’s in them. These things can have deleterious effects in our body if we don’t eat smart. We should always streamline our health so that we’re eating toward a cancer-free life, an energized life, and an overall healthy life.
Staple #1
You need to have snacks. I think snacks are the easiest way to take your health from good to great. One of the things I like to eat is the PROBAR Meal. I like the Wholeberry Blast, and this is something that I keep with me everywhere I go. I have it between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner, and dinner and bedtime. And though it might seem like I’m eating the same thing all the time, I do this to stabilize my blood sugar and provide the energy that I need. It’s something that is easily reproducible, and it’s inexpensive.
A lot of times people will say, “Hey, I don’t want to have the same thing every day.” But when you try to make changes, the most important thing is choosing something that is readily available, and then stapling it down into something that you can reproduce. I just keep it simple and I think if people will do the same, it’s an easy way to stabilize one aspect of your health. Breakfast, lunch and dinner may change, but you want to try to keep your snacks consistent if it’s going to allow you to partake in them every day.
Staple #2
Take a daily multivitamin. I recommend that everyone should. I use the GNC Mega Men Soft Chew Multivitamins because in this I get my vitamin A, C, calcium, E, and B-complex vitamins: B1, B2, B6, B12. You get awesome things like folic acid, biotin, zinc, selenium, chromium—these things are all important for health, and we don’t get enough of them in foods that we eat, especially in the average American diet. One of the simple things to do is wake up in the morning and get one of my soft chew vitamins and to go on with my day.
Staple #3
The next staple that I’d like to share with you is D3—I like to take 2,000 international units. A brand I use is Nature’s Life. The reason I like vitamin D3, even though it’s in my soft chews, is that the 2,000 international units are more than what’s in my soft chews and vitamin D is important as far as anti-cancer health, energy, bone health and even mood. So it’s something that I think is important. A lot of people have low vitamin D levels and don’t realize it. If you’re concerned about that, you can always ask your doctor to get a blood test and find out where you’re at vitamin D-wise, but it’s something over-the-counter that I think can make a huge difference in your health.
Staple #4
Another staple that I think is really important is making sure that you drink good water. I talk about this all the time, and I’ve talked about this in previous blog posts, but again when you talk about staples, there are things that really nail down things in your life, and things that you know that no matter what, you’re going to reproduce time and time again. We know about staples and the fact that, for example, every man should have a black suit. I think that’s a staple of a man’s wardrobe. And same for a woman—every woman should have a black dress, and I think that’s just important because they’re staples because you can wear them on multiple occasions and it stabilizes your wardrobe.
Likewise, water is a staple that we just have to have in our diet and in our life. I like to drink Essentia water. It’s got a pH of at least 9.5. It’s alkaline water, and alkaline water’s great because a lot of diseases and even cancer love acidic environments, and you want to do something very simple to kind of flip the switch on that type of environment. That’s why I drink alkaline water. I like Essentia because I think it’s a great brand and it’s something that you can find in most stores, such as Publix and Whole Foods. It’s something essential that you can do for your health to make a huge difference and provide energy.
Staple #5
Another staple that I really like and recommend is flaxseed oil. I take about a tablespoon a day. You can take it straight, put it on your salad or oatmeal. Flaxseed oil’s a great way to reduce cholesterol, provide energy, and it’s got the good fats in it. One gram of fat equals nine calories, and calories are energy. It’s great for brain health, energy, and it’s something that is so simple and readily available to obtain in the grocery market. I just think that it makes a huge difference in your health and it’s something that I take every day.
Staple #6
Another staple that I think makes a huge difference is meditation. Meditation helps streamline your day. It kind of helps you think through the problems you know you’re going to face—because we all face problems—but if you can think about them before you actually go through them, you can streamline things. You can even speed up your day, and that’s a way to save energy, and in a way that’s going to produce energy because if you know the answer before the problem hits you, you feel energized; you feel that you can conquer that situation and you can move on with your day, and you can do what’s next. So meditation’s the key and it’s something that you can do with just five minutes in the morning when you wake up. You can think through your day, plan things, and move out on your plan.
Staple #7
And the last staple I want to share with you, which I love and practice, is yoga. Yoga is a great way to improve power, balance and alignment. It trains your body to know if you’re out of alignment or if you have bad posture, so you can readjust. Anyone can do yoga, and I think it’s something that will tone you and improve your flexibility. And this is something that could be the platform for any sport or exercise that you participate in.
These are my tips on how I turned my health from good to great. I wanted to give you a little insight into my life; I hope you enjoyed them.
